Friday Favourites - July 19, 2013

This is my favourite photo I took this week. Earlier in the year when my garden was infested with creeping charlie I decided to move my spreading rose bush. I looked up online how to do it and every website said not to. I did it anyway and hoped for the best. It's completely over run with beautiful blooms now.

My favourite quote from this week was inspired by a good friend. Thanks for the inspiration Joni!

"To pay attention, this is our endless and proper work."

I found some great stuff this week!

This is absolutely hilarious - and what might be most funny to me is that I can see myself in it...the me of my future!

The Hazards of Backyard Hens

I've been dying for a vacation; or even a weekend away. If I was going away for a weekend this is where I'd go.... Angelines

There is some great info on saving our food here.

Let's all feel good for a few minutes.

With some happy facts

Some photos to restore your faith. (Thanks Anna Jeanine for this link)

I have an obsession with a fascination with ravens and crows and this VIDEO is absolutely AMAZING!

This is where I usually tell you to have a great weekend and that I'll see you next week....but tomorrow is a big day for me and I'll be telling you about it here, so I hope you'll come back for that.

See you tomorrow!

What's Happening in the Garden

Between all the bugs (they are terrible this year!) and the heat I've been seriously neglecting my gardens. They're in a shameful state. I honestly think I have more weeds than flowers this year. Every morning I get up with the intention of doing some weeding and everyday I find something to do in front of a fan instead.

Yesterday we had a hell of a storm that took it's toll in all my beds. A good portion of my flowers are laying down and a couple of my glads seem to be broken off at the soil. My fingers are crossed that they all perk up as they dry off.

Last year I was out taking photos everyday - this year I'm lucky if I get out there once a week :(

Here a few shots I took this morning.....

I'm loving my cone flowers.

We've had a few visitors.

A Rosebreasted Grosbeak striking a pose for me!

One I'm not too happy to see - eating my dahlias!!

And I've have a couple more firsts for me...

1st Dahlia blossom ever.
1st Malva grown.
1st Stargazer grown from bulb here.

Here's my favourite photo I took this week. Bradley got a new camera for his upcoming school year and I've been playing around with it. My daisies are blooming, YAY!!

My favourite quote this week:

52 Photos Project - This is what I found

This week at 52 Photos Project the prompt is I went for a walk and This is What I Found

I went for a walk in Almonte (the small town that's closest to our home) and here is some of the beauty I found. I love Almonte - I think it's one of the most beautiful small towns anywhere!

The Mississippi River runs right through town and it's stunning.

Friday Favourites - July 5, 2013

Here's my favourite photo of mine this week. I love gargoyles and I have several around the house. It's often said they were used to keep evil spirits from coming in to a building. This is Gwall and he stands sentinel outside our side door.

My favourite quote this week:

"Act your age, not your shoe size."
 - Prince (Kiss)

Some goodies from this week...

You know how much I love ezines. Here's another one with some beautiful photography.

Graduation Time!

This has been a busy few weeks for us. Shane graduated from Queens University and Bradley graduated from A.Y. Jackson Secondary School.

Here are some photos of the festivities. We have a very hard time being serious!

First we had Shane's graduation.....

Not so serious.
Not serious again.
Definitely  not serious.
Downright goofy!
Back to serious for a moment....
or two.
So much for serious!
Shane striking a pose.

Then we had Bradley's prom....

Started of serious.
Now it's all about the cuff links!
Is it a photo bomb when it's the photographer?
Half serious.
All serious.

Then came Bradley's graduation...

Trying to be serious.

Here we're all trying!
Not so serious - again!
